The Dott07 project Alzheimer100 has really taken off with Wednesday’s co-design event at Culture Lab in Newcastle. The interactive event brought together service providers, people with dementia, service designers, academics and other healthcare professionals and was the first stage of the co-design process.
The balloon voting proved a huge success, as well as adding to the market stall theme they were used to vote for the challenges people felt strongest about.
Once everyone had voted people gathered together in their co-design teams and begun planning how they were going to move forward as a team to tackle the challenges.
This day provided a great opportunity for people from all areas and levels of the service to equally share their ideas.
The event also included a short film, illustrating stories and experiences we have captured in the project so far, along with a cafe which was set up and run by the S.M.A.R.T team, a group of people with early stage dementia. Equal arts also had a stand demonstrating the value of connecting older people to the arts.
