Observation visit: Shoe Factory

dsc_0376.JPG

One of our friends here at thinkpublic is fashion designer Camilla Staerk, she recently moved all of her production back to the UK so myself and Ivo arranged to go on an observation visit one of the factories she uses.

We went with production manager Cassie Robinson to Amathus shoes in Bethnal Green to observe how her shoes are made. The factory is a small, specialised factory produces hand made shoes to a very high standard for high end fashion labels.

  1. I can’t wait to see your new shoes!!

Did you learn anything from this visit on how to improve public services?

  2. I think observation visits like this are a great way of looking at how other industries and organisations approach analagous situations and problms.

I’ll be writing up a more detailed report of my findings shortly, this will be available here. Following on from this visit I’ll be observing the printing process at our printers in Greenwich, observing police on duty in Brighton and a Magistrate court in session in Crawley.

I’m really looking forward to these visits, I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

  3. Please blog a photo of the finished shoes. I hear that you are having one pair made in pillarbox red!

  4. Will do Yvette…

Ivo’s getting the pillarbox red ones, mine are a more subtle deep red. Still quite fancy though!
