Listening to our new Minister for Health Alan Johnson on the radio this morning talking about his plans for the NHS was an extremely invigorating experience. At the very least, it seems he has been listening to the to reports of thinktanks such as DEMOS, organisations like ourselves and our colleagues at the Institute for Innovation and Improvement: He claims that “there will be no more top down reorganisations of strategic health authorities or PCTs for the foreseeable future” and that the NHS will concentrate on “the concerns of staff, and indeed of patients”.
It all sounds like a fantastic move in the right direction and it will very interesting to see how he effects the NHS on the front-line.

It’s always good to hear the people at the top talking about this approach. Yet there is still quite a lot of work to be done to bridge the gap between the talk and the reality at grassroots. This is all interesting stuff and something that I’m really excited to be involved with on different levels….
