Today the RSA have launched this year’s Design Directions, their annual student annual awards scheme. It offers an exciting selection of briefs that explore the role of the designer in society. We have written a brief with Involve called ‘Engage! Catalysing social change through design-led citizen participation‘. It encourages design students to think of how they can work with a group in their community to identify a challenge that is important to them and then, together, design ways to change this.
NESTA, partners for the briefs, will be hosting a series of webcasts where we will be discussing both this brief and a second called ‘Including you: Designing for people living with long term health conditions‘ and offering advice on how they could be approached.
