Retailers often talk about creating a unique experience for their customers. Whilst browsing the shops at the Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton this weekend I came across a shop called the ‘Teddy Bear Workshop’.
The store is more of a factory than a shop, the idea being that customers build their own teddy. Each element is up to the individual to design; from the type of bear and the sound they make to the outfit they wear. I was amazed at how detailed the process was and although it is obviously aimed at children I really wanted to make one myself!
The experience that Teddy Bear Workshop sells could be applied to any number of items, the process enables the individual to create a truly personal product. We are always trying to think of new ways to get people designing their own services and products, I think we could learn a lot from this.
