Last night, I gave a talk to Design Interaction students at London’s Royal College of Art. I was asked to speak about how we use design at thinkpublic in a practical way, within public services. This created interesting conversations around futures, and how our work relates to the vision of their course.
Speaking with a number of the students after the talk was good to hear their views on our work and learn more as to how they are currently working with people. It made me think that we need to start looking into more futuristic ways of engaging with people when developing products and services. However, how do you do this without alienating people?
I hope to return to the RCA and take part in their project ‘Crit’. It will be great to see how they have engaged with people in their work and see what we can learn from this futuristic way of designing. Thanks to Tobie and Elio for inviting me to speak.
