learning from thinkpublic

Last week, James Williamson from Common Purpose joined the design team at thinkpublic, he came looking for insight’s into our approach to public sector design.

Here are some of James’ thoughts from his visit:

The benefits of co-design
The way that thinkpublic focus on co-design, collaboration and using the design process to identify the key issues, has really made me think about pushing these aspects of the design process further on some of my projects. I’ve learnt that if you use the right methods to tap into the incisive information, you can produce a more tailored and effective design solution.

Design isn’t limited to a magazine layout or an ad campaign
Exploring the effect good design can have on a persons experience of a service has been a real eye opener, and an area I rarely thought well delivered design contributed to before.

Young designers are emerging with an increasing awareness of how design can be used to improve public services and the user experience.
The Real Work Experience finalists showcased some inspiring proposals that could lead to a unique and exciting new design initiative.
