My Work Experience

commonpurpose
My name is Grace I’m 15 and I am working with thinkpublic for work experience for two weeks.

Friday was my favourite day so far as thinkpublic had an event where participants from Common Purpose (http://www.commonpurpose.org.uk/), a leadership course, came to the thinkpublic social lab (http://thesociallab.com/) to think about how they would tackle youth crime. It was a very fun day and lots of good ideas came out of it.

Before the workshop I did some research by asking my friends what they thought about youth crime and their ideas on how to tackle it, then during the lab we presented this research.

Everyone were divided into four different teams who each had a different challenge to solve. My team was looking at the challenge of “as more and more students who were leaving school, with fewer job opportunities how could we prevent them from turning to crime. I really enjoyed hearing what ideas, the adults had to solve the issue”. At the end I got to judge who had the best idea which was fun.

The winning idea was an enterprise that students could get help with to set up their own businesses when they left school to do with something they were interested in.
