Following an invitation from The Young Foundation thinkpublic ran a workshop yesterday with 25 public service leads from Beijing on how thinkpublic have been re-designing public services in the UK.
As part of the session we ran an observation activity where we took the group on a tour of East London and asked them to feedback on their immediate environment. Response from the group was excellent with one diplomat saying how “this is all very new and exciting, it has changed the way I will think about public services in Beijing” View photos on flickr!

This is great. I do service design - of sorts. I work in China - off and on. And I am kicked that you got to the Chinese public service people. Great work.

this is interesting… I wonder if you have any follow up feedbacks from what ideas they brought back to Beijing after you workshop? I am going to Beijing for a Design Management conference in April, can’t wait to see what differences they did to that city - haven’t been there for ten years!
me included!
By the way, a small cultural observation on the photo: see all these cups on the tables with tea leaves filter… everyone Chinese has one

Hi Qin, thanks for your comment…I thought the Teas were amazing, they seem to have every ingredient available in them!
Let me know how it goes in Beijing, the changes must be amazing. It’s all building up to 2012 in London so it will be interesting to compare. Unfortunately we haven’t heard any feedback from the delegates since but hopefully you will see the changes when you visit : )
Enjoy your conference and let us know how it goes!
