Last week I was lucky enough to be in Lisbon, facilitating the Action For Age workshop at the ExperimentaDesign Event, which was kindly supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and the RSA in the UK.
Action For Age is a design direction brief that was first given to a group of UK students last year and now in Lisbon the same challenge is being given to a selected group of six students from around Portugal with the aim of addressing similar issues around our aging societies.
Together we worked intensively, investigating co-design, the need for services and the importance of understanding peoples experiences when designing those services. I really enjoyed the field trip to both public and private care homes and comparing the quality of life residents experience in each of them.
At the end of September both the UK and Portuguese students will meet in Lisbon to discuss their findings.
You can see some great photos from the week here.
