Me, my bag and them

10small

I seem to be falling into the trap of collecting photo’s of me, my ‘I think public’ bag and a smiling politician. Possibly potential for a spin-off version of fantastic site Glum Councillors. Obviously this photo fails to meet one of the key criteria (i.e not containing a smiling politician), but unfortunately they force you to surrender your camera and phone when you enter Downing Street.

I was actually there for Social Enterprise Day and an intimate chat with the Prime Minister (just him, me and about 100 other people desperately trying to get the Downing Street photographer to catch us in shot). All part of my tireless work promoting social enterprise as a Social Enterprise Ambassador. I think the serious point is that Social Enterprise is really coming of age, with all political parties struggling to claim the ground. It really is seen as a serious option for public service delivery. I believe this is an exciting and significant opportunity for new public services to be created and owned by their users and staff.
