5 things I learnt at yesterday’s PiF conference

pif
1: The new standard for patient information has worked well in pilot stages but there are big issues that will need to be addressed in order for it to be successful.

2: Designers working within The NHS spend more time selling the benifits of well designed patient information than they do designing.

3: The Experience Based Design approach is achieving excellent market penetration with clinical staff but it would also be a very useful approach for information/comms teams where knowledge of the approach is low.

4: The new information standard will mean that charities will have to change, audit and redesign their work process to ensure that they comply with the standard. A user centered design process can support them to achieve this.

5: It’s very difficult to do a presentation straight after an energising session that involves song and dance.

These have been compiled following the Annual Patient Information Forum conference that I attended in Birmingham at Villa Park. I had been invited to run one of the afternoon break out sessions entitled ‘Truly harnessing the power of design’.

The presentation has been uploaded for you to view here…enjoy!
