There are good things happening in care homes, but up until now many of these have not been captured or communicated in such a way that they can be widely adopted across the sector to make positive changes on a large scale. The NHS Institutes Care Home Programme aims to:
- empower staff to make the improvements that residents’ and their families want
- improve safety
- improve internal systems and working relationships
- improve efficiency to release more time to care for residents
Based at sites in Bristol and the Isle of Wight, we worked with residents, families and staff to unpick key challenges in communication, experience and service design to identify improvements and opportunities.
Using an Experience Based Design Approach (EBD) to co-design a range of resident experience tools to enhance the experiences of staff, residents and relatives.
