Last week Ella Britton visited Stockholm to present thinkpublic’s work in Social Innovation at the Geek Girl Meetup, a Swedish unconference for women who are interested in technology, web, social media and entrepreneurship.

The idea for this event was to create a forum for women to discuss and share their knowledge and interest in tech without being in the minority, as is the case at most tech conferences.

The event was full of interesting sessions on things like hardware hacking, web entrepreneurship, augmented reality and best practices in marketing and social media. Ella talked through thinkpublic’s user-centred approach to innovation using the Alzhiemer100 casestudy as an example of how we put our process and values into practice. thinkpublic’s focus on people was a good compliment to the rest of the event, and resulted in interesting discussions around user-involvement in the Swedish public sector.

We would like to thank Andie Nordgren, and Heidi Harman the two co-founders for inviting us to attend and for their inspirational approach to organising such an interesting meetup. Thank you also to the British Council who sponsored thinkpublic’s visit, and to everyone who attended the presentation and said nice things on twitter!
