Co-designing for dementia: how to utilise design practice in a health context

2010 has only just begun and thinkpublic director, Deborah Szebeko and PhD candidate Lauren Tan have published their first co-authored article. ‘Designing for Dementia’ has been published in the Australiasian Medical Journal and builds on the author’s experience of working with designing for dementia through our Dott07 and Alzheiemer’s Society projects.
Designers and design-led methods can bring innovative solutions to healthcare, but just as importantly, its approach places key healthcare stakeholders at the heart of developing these solutions. Projects such as Alzheimer 100 provide us with practical case studies to deepen our understanding of how designers, design-led methods and approaches can be applied to meet challenges facing healthcare today.
