Now that conference season is over, and the starter gun has sounded for the run up to the General Election, politicians in Westminster are outlining their visions for the future of Britain. Efficient public services are centre stage.

We have moved!

After 3 years at Calvert Avenue, we've moved to bigger premises. Our new studio is at Studios 38-40, The Fruit & Wool Exchange, Brushfield Street, London, E1 6EU and our new phone number is 0207 247 2255.

To celebrate the move we have created a short video to show how it all happened, you can view this here.

The bigger space means we can now stage events in our own office. We look forward to seeing you there soon. Download a map or a Vcard here.

How the third sector can turn customers into co-producers

When the UK Government's National Dementia Strategy was launched last November, we were proud that it included our recommendation to provide dedicated Dementia Advisers.

Now, we're helping the Alzheimer's Society roll out the new service - co-designed by people with dementia - in four locations. Our aim is to establish the Alzheimer's Society as the leading third sector partner for local authorities wishing to implement the National Dementia Strategy.

Playmakers premieres

With the rise of pervasive gaming and geo-location technology, play is bursting back onto our streets. Directed by thinkpublic's Ivo Gormley, Playmakers explores the emergence of pervasive gaming, showing the possibilities offered by new technologies and investigating what happens when people reclaim public space through play.

The film will premiere on Thursday 5 November at The Old Void Cinema, as part of Sheffield's International Documentary Festival. If you're in the area, do pop along or you can read more here.

Action for Age in Portugal

In July, thinkpublic's Alice Osborne was invited to Portugal to meet six students interested in learning more about co-design. The event was Action for Age, a repeat of a challenge set last year for UK design students by the RSA, where participants are asked to design innovative responses to our aging society.
The trip allowed Alice to spread our passion for co-design onto the continent. Read more here.

You Can Kingston

Since May, thinkpublic have been working with residents of the Cambridge Road Estate in Kingston, Surrey, to discover ways to improve health in the area. The project, originally commissioned by the local primary care trust, was profiled in Design Week in July. We will be presenting the community's ideas to Kingston PCT this month. www.youcankingston.com

Social Lab winner

We're delighted so many people entered our competition to win a free thinkpublic Social Lab. And we're even more delighted to announce the winner: Kingston NHS Hospital Trust, who are committed to addressing the challenges around Care Pathways for hospital patients with mental health problems.
The Lab will involve service users and service providers from across the borough and will take place at the end of November.

Alice Osborne on the Fourth Plinth

Then, in September, Alice took her place on Anthony Gormley's fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, to give time and space to the simple art of saying thank you.
In preparation, she asked friends and family to answer the question 'Tell me who you would like to thank and why...' She approached the plinth with an LED hula hoop, a beautiful list of thank-yous...and a note from her mum telling her not to fall off! Watch Alice online here.
