making learning and working together fun
We are highly experienced in bringing people together by creating, planning and facilitating dynamic workshops and training.
how we do it
We design and run energetic and engaging workshops which provide the space and tools for collaboration and creativity to happen. We can work with you to design bespoke workshops or you can simply select one from our ‘how to’ programme below.
our ‘how to’ programme

‘how to’ co-design
Co-design workshops bring a range of stakeholders together to co-create solutions that meet the needs of the people using and delivering a service. They can also help create the evidence for service improvements. We can work with you to deliver a co-design workshop or train you to run them within your own organisation.

‘how to’ prototype
Our designers work with you to turn your ideas into prototypes that you can see, touch and test with users. We might use paper-based tools, web platforms, scenarios or live prototyping. Prototypes enable us to test ideas quickly and cheaply, reducing the cost of pilots and likelihood of mistakes in implementation.

‘how to’ conduct ethnographic research
Ethnographic research gains a deep understanding of how people live their lives. Our workshops train you in some key methods such as interview technique, recording information and creating research frameworks. They give you the confidence to use these to inspire others to innovate and improve services.

‘how to’ write a design brief
Many of our clients ask for help in scoping and writing good design briefs to enable them to get the most out of commissioning and working with designers. Our ‘how to’ write a design brief workshop will provide you with a single framework to help you make the most of working with designers.

design training and support
In 2005 we developed the Experience Based Design (EBD) toolkit in partnership with NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement (NHSi). Since then, we have been working with numerous NHS Trusts around the UK to train staff to run EBD programmes. We have recently worked with the North East London Cancer Network to deliver EBD training to improve end-of-life services and in Scotland to help improve head and neck cancer services.

social lab
Social Lab workshops are where organisations and teams can draw on experience and user insights to collaborate and produce ideas for new services, social enterprises, strategies and visions. These workshops create a shared understanding of issues and support collaboration in the creation of ideas and action plans. Social Labs help teams co-create shared strategies and solutions move forward in a creative and energetic environment.
